Elite Select Group Referee Andre Marriner insists that players that don’t make the grade should not be lost to the game.
Speaking to LFETV, the Birmingham based official, urged more players to get involved in a joint Professional Match Game Officials Limited & Football Association drive – to turn them into referee’s.
“A lot of it (refereeing) is man management skills but they’ve got a good knowledge of the game itself, “Marriner said.
“They have the physical prowess and while the laws of the game theory work is slightly different to what they know once that has been learned their football background can help them go on to become really good referees”.
